Fersa develops a strategy of international diversification in countries with stable and reliable regulatory frameworks and that offer investment opportunities with higher returns.
The diversification of Fersa’s wind activity into new countries spread across three continents is the result of its strategy of growth in mature markets with a stable legal and economic environment and in developing markets that have good wind resources and notable growth potential.
The Fersa portfolio is split into four different stages, depending on the degree to which the project has advanced: promotion, authorised, construction and in operation.
In the promotion stage we include wind farms that are in an earlier stage, and that includes site selection, installation of measurement towers, preliminary assessment of the wind resource and the start of the processing of permits and authorizations.
In the authorised stage we include those who have successfully completed the acquisition of permits and authorizations, and are in the final stage of the final design of the layout, the search for funding, and the closure of the various contracts building supply.
The construction category includes those who have started the installation work, either the wind farm and/or its evacuation infrastructure.
Finally, among the wind farms in operation we include those who have completed the construction phase and are generating and selling power to the grid.
The distribution of the portfolio of Fersa, to March 31, 2013, by geographic area is as follows:
